A Visix Case Study
Coastal Carolina University, a public university of more than 8,000 students near Myrtle Beach, needed a better way to share campus news and, after the Virginia Tech tragedy, a reliable method for emergency messaging. The university evaluated multiple vendors and chose AxisTV because it could integrate with the campus mass notification system and provide centralized management with distributed control for departments across campus.
They deployed 17 channel players driving 42‑ and 52‑inch LCDs with a two‑panel layout (campuswide on the left, department content on the right) plus a department-specific news ticker. The system now has 26 content coordinators, high participation from faculty and student groups, and creative uses like student art montages and planned academic challenges — delivering faster, greener multimedia communications with the added benefit of campuswide emergency alert capability.
