A Visix Case Study
American University's sizable library—with over a million volumes, thousands of media items and electronic resources, and heavy student traffic—needed a better way to present timely information to visitors. Until recently the only method at the entrance was a desktop running PowerPoint, so staff wanted a more visible, flexible system to communicate classes, policies and directions as people arrived.
AU implemented Visix AxisTV Digital Signage (Professional) with channel players and a 42-inch lobby display, plus additional signage in the Anderson Computing Complex. The web-based system shows content in multiple windows (including cable, weather and an emergency ticker), uses a screensaver for off-peak messaging, and is updated by in-house designers using PowerPoint and Photoshop. The displays have increased engagement, directed users to available computers and laptops, and AU plans to add a Web Page Bulletin to show real-time computer availability.
