A VisionMap Case Study
de Bruin Spatial Technologies, a Mount Gambier–based geomatics firm founded in 2010 with over 25 years’ forestry experience, was contracted to supply high-resolution imagery for a GIS used in asset management, cadastral plotting, workforce management and live GPS tracking. The job required 8 cm GSD, four-band (RGB + NIR) ortho-rectified imagery and a 1 m DEM across 250 km² of small towns and a flood‑damaged plantation (areas 5–20 km apart), with a two‑month turnaround, very limited daily capture time (1.5 hours) and tight local government budgets and weather/sun-angle constraints.
de Bruin selected VisionMap’s A3 camera for its four‑band capture, large 2–3× footprint and cost efficiency. The team completed capture in 18 hours, added an extra client area with little overhead, and used VisionMap’s simultaneous RGB/NIR + DEM processing and multi‑server workflow to cut post‑processing from weeks to days. The project delivered the required 8 cm orthoimagery and 1 m DEM on time and within budget.
