Fairfax County streamlines 220 processes for 1.1 million residents with Visionary Integration Professionals

Fairfax County, Virginia, the most populous county in the state, faced significant challenges with its outdated and siloed land management systems. The county grappled with eight disparate systems used by nine departments, leading to data redundancy, inefficiency, and limited transparency for its 1.1 million residents and over 1,000 staff. Visionary Integration Professionals (VIP) was engaged to implement a solution using the Accela Civic Platform.

VIP implemented a unified system named PLUS, automating over 220 processes. The solution included a custom interface for SAP financial integration, migration of complex data from 54 legacy sources, and the creation of a Power BI data warehouse for reporting. This transformation resulted in the issuance of over 100,000 permits and 160,000 inspections in its first year. The project earned Fairfax County national awards for permitting transparency and digital counties, showcasing the measurable impact of Visionary Integration Professionals' work.
