Southern Health Improving patient outcomes using virtual appointments

Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust worked with Visionable to roll out a virtual consultation platform so patients could access care by video instead of always attending in person. The Trust wanted to improve access, patient experience and outcomes, while also increasing clinical efficiency and supporting the NHS Digital First agenda.

Visionable provided a secure video appointments solution that was adopted across several services, including Children’s Services, italk, Primary Care Psychology, Continence, and Physio and Perinatal Services. The results included better continuity of care during COVID-19, improved clinician time management, fewer missed appointments, and greater flexibility for families; one workflow that previously took two hours of clinician time per week was reduced to 15 minutes of administrative time, and call volumes rose to 1,288 in a week at peak, exceeding targets by 35%.
