Remote diagnostics and treatment for stroke healthcare

The NHS East of England faced a significant challenge in delivering timely stroke care, as a shortage of specialists and the region's rurality meant fewer than 5% of eligible patients received a critical thrombolysis treatment within the necessary three-hour window. To connect patients with expert care faster, the NHS partnered with Visionable to implement a virtual healthcare solution using its advanced video collaboration and imaging technology.

Visionable's solution involved deploying a portable "digital stroke cart" to a patient's bedside, enabling a remote stroke specialist to conduct a full consultation, assess symptoms, and review high-resolution brain scans in real-time. This allowed for immediate diagnosis and treatment on-site, drastically reducing door-to-needle times. As a result, over 3,200 patients have been assessed, with 41% receiving thrombolysis, leading to faster treatment, improved recoveries, and more efficient care.
