SONEMA, a Monaco‑based telecommunications operator with 50 employees and more than 500 installations in nearly 50 countries, embarked in 2009 to virtualize about 60 servers across Monaco and Fréjus to host business applications, email, databases and file services. The company needed a recovery solution with much better RTO/RPO than tape backups but could not afford to expand its SAN footprint, creating a requirement for an affordable, high‑availability solution for both virtual and physical servers.

SONEMA evaluated and deployed Vision Solutions’ Double‑Take Availability for Windows to replicate systems to a remote target. The solution delivered real‑time data recovery, improved RTO/RPO and higher availability for servers and applications, scaled with a dynamic virtual environment, proved less expensive than SAN‑based alternatives, and is regularly tested to ensure readiness.
