Raven Transport, a Jacksonville-based truckload carrier operating across the continental U.S., needed to upgrade its IBM i environment from an IBM System i 520 (V5R3) to an IBM Power 520 M25 running V5R4. With a small IT staff lacking in-house hardware and programming experts and a 24x7 dispatch operation that couldn’t tolerate extended outages, the company required a fast, seamless migration with minimal downtime and limited internal effort.

Working with IBM partner ICS, Raven used Vision Solutions’ Migrate While Active to install the new server in parallel, replicate production data via IBM i journaling, and automate the role swap. The six-week project finished with virtually no downtime, only 20–25 person-hours of Raven IT time, a smooth cutover to the new system, and minimal need for in-house expertise—backed by Vision’s responsive support.
