Quixtar, an online health and beauty retailer based in Ada, Michigan, needed to guarantee 24x7 availability of its inventory and order-management systems so business could continue even during outages. The IT team required a recovery time objective of two hours or less to ensure backend applications and transactions stayed online for independent business owners and customers.

Working with IBM and Vision Solutions, Quixtar deployed IBM System i5 570, DB2, WebSphere MQ and WebSphere Application Server alongside Vision’s MIMIX replication and high-availability software to continuously mirror operations to a backup system. The solution met the two-hour RTO (with planned swaps under 20 minutes), preserved queued orders during failover, enabled workload shifting for peak demand, sustained customer satisfaction and productivity, and supported the company’s growth and industry recognition.
