Prolifics, a New York–based IT services firm of about 1,200 employees and the largest unit of SemanticSpace Group, depends heavily on Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory for internal and client communications. When Hurricane Sandy and other risks exposed the limits of traditional backup-and-restore (which can take hours or days), the company needed a more efficient, always-ready solution to protect 1.2 TB of Exchange data and the Active Directory master so operations could continue even if the primary data center failed.
