OCBC Bank (Malaysia), part of the Singapore-based OCBC Group and a leading regional bank processing more than one million electronic transactions daily, faced a critical availability challenge: outages required tape-based restores at an offsite disaster recovery center, forcing branches to re-key transactions and sometimes taking about eight hours to recover—putting customer service and regulatory obligations at risk.
Working with IBM Malaysia, OCBC deployed Vision Solutions’ MIMIX HA for i5/OS on IBM System i servers to provide real-time replication and automated failover to a remote backup site. The solution eliminated the need for re-keying, cut recovery time by nearly 90%, improved branch and customer response, met RENTAS transfer requirements, and streamlined system upgrades and overall operational efficiency.
