Employees’ Provident Fund - Customer Case Study

Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), Malaysia’s national pension fund headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, manages savings for 12.4 million members across 66 locations. After migrating from mainframes to IBM Power Systems and Intel-based servers, EPF faced a critical need to protect member and contribution data and ensure continuous service with aggressive recovery objectives (RTO 8 hours, RPO 24 hours) in the event of a production-site disaster.

EPF deployed Vision Solutions’ MIMIX Availability for IBM i and Double-Take Availability for Windows to replicate the Provident Fund System, DB2 member databases and the SAP General Ledger to a hot-site. The six‑month rollout established two alternatable data centers, successfully replicated core applications and data, met internal disaster‑recovery objectives during simulations, and significantly strengthened business continuity and recoverability.
