The Delaware Department of Education in Dover, which manages pupil records for 116,000 students across the state, needed to eliminate long outages after a past catastrophic database-server failure left its critical eSchoolPlus pupil accounting system down for hours. The department’s goal was continuous availability and much faster recovery than the 3–4 hour (or longer) restores they had experienced.
Working with Dell, the IT team tested vendors and chose Double-Take for its strong support and documentation, then implemented Double-Take and GeoCluster with hands‑on consulting and staff training. The clustered solution (with nodes in separate buildings) provides automatic and one‑click failover; hardware failures have been handled seamlessly, drastically reducing downtime, freeing staff from lengthy recoveries, and delivering the peace of mind the department needed.
