Clarion, a Leeds-based law firm, needed a more reliable, cost-effective disaster recovery platform to protect critical applications (Exchange, SharePoint, Citrix and legal line-of-business systems) hosted on five HP servers. Their tape-based approach created long recovery windows and they wanted a low-management solution compatible with virtualization to avoid service disruption for clients.

Working with VirtualDCS, Clarion deployed Vision Solutions’ Double-Take Availability to replicate changes in real time from physical servers to VMware virtual machines on an HP SAN. The result is a disk-to-disk DR platform that meets internal SLAs—critical applications recoverable within 45 minutes and non-critical apps in 4–5 hours—while lowering costs, increasing flexibility and future-proofing their recovery strategy.
