Barona Resort & Casino, a 400‑room resort east of San Diego with 2,000 slot machines and 70 gaming tables, depends on 24x7 IT systems to run gaming, hotel, HR and payroll functions; tribal law also requires all systems remain on tribal land. Wildfires and other disasters threatened extended outages that would halt operations, cause major revenue loss and jeopardize benefits for tribe members, so ensuring continuous availability was essential.

Barona deployed iTERA Availability to mirror two IBM Power System servers located at opposite ends of the property and perform emergency role swaps to the casino‑hosted system (which has a backup generator).
