Associated Wholesalers, Inc. (AWI) is a leading food wholesaler based in Robesonia, PA, with a secondary distribution facility in York and 24x7 operations serving 966 stores. The company depends on an AIX-based Retalix logistics application used by 150–200 staff; any prolonged outage would halt order processing, loading and billing, risking customer service and significant lost productivity.

AWI deployed Vision Solutions’ Double-Take Availability for AIX to create a two-node cluster at Robesonia with a real-time replicated offsite IBM Power 520 in York, enabling continuous monitoring and automated failover. The solution delivered rapid switchover during a hardware failure (operations ran on the York site for a week), avoided hours of downtime, requires minimal day-to-day management, and provided comprehensive disaster recovery, high availability and responsive 24x7 support.
