American Life Insurance Company (ALICO), an AIG company with operations in more than 55 countries, needed a better way to monitor and manage its IBM i environment from its Wilmington, DE IT hub. IT staff were spending excessive time running repetitive queries to assess CPU, disk and job usage, had limited ability to audit historical activity, and struggled to catalog different software “flavors” at worldwide offices and reclaim wasted disk space.

ALICO implemented Vision Director to automate system monitoring, historical performance reporting, disk-usage analysis and background housekeeping. As a result the company reduced disk and spool usage, improved performance (allowing deferred server upgrades), gained granular troubleshooting and auditing capabilities, and can now accurately catalog software versions across offices.
