Tampa International Airport - Customer Case Study

Tampa International Airport undertook a complex $6M, 2 MW solar installation on the roof of its south economy parking garage that required tight coordination of heavy structural pours and a severely accelerated electrical schedule. To manage detailed takeoffs, labor budgeting and daily scheduling for the electrical scope, prime contractor Solar Source engaged Dennis Thomas, who relied on Vision InfoSoft’s Electrical Bid Manager (EBM) to create the project estimate and task-integrated schedule.

Using Vision InfoSoft’s EBM, Thomas generated a task-by-task critical path, exported data into his Estimateguard scheduling system, modeled acceleration scenarios, sized subcontractor crews and tracked daily progress against the estimate. The result was on-time electrical completion supporting the larger project: a 2 MW array that powers up to 250 homes and offsets emissions comparable to removing nearly 350 cars annually. EBM delivered faster, highly accurate takeoffs and labor management that reduced scheduling risk and informed subsequent work awards.
