PTC, a global industrial software company, faced the pandemic-era challenge of shifting a distributed workforce to remote and then defining a return-to-work approach amid rising resignations and a tight talent market. Hallie Bregman, Global Head of People Analytics, needed to reconcile leadership’s push for in-office presence with widespread employee demand for flexibility, while also tackling skills shortages and the limitations of siloed job structures.

Her team used people analytics and the Visier platform to run repeated employee listening, surface real-time turnover and experience metrics, and make insights broadly accessible for cross-functional co-creation. That data-driven approach drove a new hybrid policy (moving from one remote day pre-pandemic to two–three days post-pandemic), uplifted remote offices, enabled skills-based project matching to improve internal mobility, and supported faster, evidence-based decisions that improved retention and operational efficiency.
