Merck KGaA, a global science and technology company with over 50,000 employees, faced a fragmented HR landscape where local talent processes produced inconsistent data and many decisions were based on gut feeling. To support its digital HR transformation, the company needed to standardize global talent processes and unify people data so leaders could make evidence-based organizational decisions.
Merck implemented Visier to consolidate more than 45 million data points from SAP, SuccessFactors and other sources, combining Organization Development with people analytics and working closely with its Works Council on privacy. The rollout enabled nearly 3,000 managers and hundreds of HR users to access real‑time, single‑source insights—shifting HR from report generator to strategic advisor, improving decision quality and earning recognition such as the 2016 HR Excellence Award.
