First West Credit Union, the third-largest credit union in British Columbia with nearly $11 billion in assets under administration and about 250,000 members across 54 branches, faced rising resignations after several mergers. Its HR team lacked integrated analytics and was working with disconnected data systems, leaving leaders without the visibility needed to track compensation, staffing, recruiting, and retention across branches and business lines.
Partnering with Visier, First West launched a pilot of Visier Workforce Analytics in 2011, prioritized data quality and custom metrics, and expanded access over five years. The analytics solution helped the credit union identify turnover trends, distinguish lateral moves from transfers, streamline recruitment and talent processes, and reduce turnover—3.1% organizationally over two years, 9.9% for entry-level client-facing roles in one region over three years, and 13.6% for key banking roles in one region over two years.
