Case Study: Shoprite Checkers improves store surveillance with Visec and Axis network cameras

Retail giant rolls out additional surveillance

Shoprite Checkers, a major South African food retailer, needed to upgrade the security and surveillance systems in approximately thirty of its Western Cape stores. Their challenge was to reduce stock theft and pilferage while ensuring the safety of patrons and staff, requiring a solution with superior image quality and reliable performance. The vendor, Visec, provided its Platinum Edition H.264 Surveillance Software to support this upgrade.

The solution implemented by Visec, in partnership with installer C U Live, involved deploying Axis network cameras, notably the AXIS P3301 Fixed Dome models. These cameras provided clear footage in all light conditions and were supported by Visec's software, which significantly reduced bandwidth requirements. The result was significantly clearer recorded footage, making incidents easier to identify and act upon, which improved the efficiency of off-site monitoring operations and led to a successful rollout that is expanding to other regions.
