Tate Blending art, therapy, and face analysis technology

Tate, a leading global arts institution, partnered with Visage Technologies for an experimental project. Their challenge was to find a GDPR-compliant face analysis solution that could integrate with Zoom to track audience eye movements and emotional responses in real-time for a therapy-art initiative, without storing any biometric data.

Visage Technologies provided its face analysis software, which was adapted to enable real-time, anonymized emotional tracking during public online events. The solution successfully powered the "Ocular Choreography" project, creating a safe and engaging experience for participants to explore the relationship between art, technology, and psychological well-being. The project culminated in an online resource of guided exercises and research findings, demonstrating innovative new possibilities for using technology to support mental health.
