PROTECT, a user-focused biometrics border project funded by the EU, faced the challenge of managing rapidly growing numbers of travelers, which was causing long queues and increasing pressure on border authorities. To digitalize and speed up border crossings, the project turned to Visage Technologies and integrated their visageSDK for face detection, tracking, and recognition.

The solution implemented by Visage Technologies provided an advanced, AI-based approach to biometric data capture. Their technology was used in kiosks for car crossings and a biometric corridor for pedestrians, enabling non-intrusive identity verification. This allowed low-risk travelers to proceed quickly, improving security and accuracy while letting border guards focus on higher-risk individuals, ultimately eliminating queues.
