A Virtusales Publishing Solutions Case Study

Preview of the Kogan Page Case Study

You're not just buying a system for today, but for the future

Kogan Page, the independent publisher, needed to replace a legacy publishing management system that could not keep up with fast-changing hybrid print and ebook models, increasing metadata demands, and the need for a website that could update automatically. After reviewing several options, Kogan Page selected Virtusales’ BiblioLIVE Bibliographic and Production modules for a more robust, upgradeable platform.

Virtusales implemented BiblioLIVE as a fully hosted solution covering bibliographic data, production management, estimating, ONIX feeds, reporting, and more. The system helped Kogan Page automate previously manual processes, improve data accuracy, and support growth from 150 annual print-only books to 150 print and ebook books without extra staff, while saving around 300 hours a year in production tasks and 250 hours a year on ONIX updates; it also cut catalogue production time from at least four hours to 20 minutes and helped the company achieve ONIX metadata compliance and a BIC Data Excellence award within four months of go-live.
