How SCIEX selected Virtual Trader as part of its R12 rollout to maximize efficiency for the 44 legal entities served by its Shared Service Centre

SCIEX, a global leader in mass‑spectrometry based in Framingham MA, selected Virtual Trader during its Oracle R12 rollout to streamline financial operations for 44 legal entities served by its Shared Service Centre. The key challenge was to minimize the number of Oracle Multi‑Org structures (operating units, ledgers, asset books) while preserving financial integrity and statutory reporting across regions — addressed using the Virtual Trader Intercompany Engine as part of the R12 implementation.

Virtual Trader implemented a single shared ledger per geographic region and used the Virtual Trader Intercompany Engine to populate local‑currency ledgers at specified exchange rates, enable flexible local statutory reporting, and separate standard‑cost accounting from intercompany profit. As a result, SCIEX achieved a streamlined Multi‑Org footprint, maintained financial integrity for all 44 entities, and expanded the solution to cover deferred revenue recognition and integration with Oracle AGIS transactions.
