GE Appliances removes Oracle customizations and splits $5B+ COGS with Virtual Trader

GE Appliances, a major home appliance manufacturer, faced the challenge of removing complex Oracle customizations while retaining detailed and accurate cost control and reporting for elements like warranty and delivery costs. They sought to avoid the high cost and support overhead of further customizations. To address this, they worked with Virtual Trader and deployed its Intercompany Engine product.

Virtual Trader's solution processed inventory cost transactions through subledger accounting, automatically separating journal entries for Cost of Goods Sold into specific elements and posting them to the General Ledger. This successfully replaced the needed customizations without the associated overhead. The results were so positive that GE Appliances extended the use of the Virtual Trader Engine to tackle further accounting challenges in other Oracle modules.
