A Virtual Instruments Case Study
ADP, which manages more than 10PB of storage for thousands of clients, needed to resolve performance issues in its NFS environment while also validating new SMB workloads. ADP turned to Virtual Instruments’ Load DynamiX performance validation solution to determine whether a single storage platform could support all file-based workloads and meet strict SLA requirements.
Virtual Instruments worked with ADP’s storage engineering team to profile workloads, deploy the Load DynamiX appliance, and test current and proposed storage arrays under realistic blended conditions. The results showed that one array performed better for SMB while another was stronger for NFS, helping ADP avoid an all-in-one consolidation plan that would not have met SLAs and instead deploy the best-fit systems for each protocol. By using Virtual Instruments, ADP gained confidence in future capacity planning and understanding of each system’s performance limits.
