A Virtual Instruments Case Study
FireHost, a secure cloud infrastructure provider, needed a better way to test and compare storage systems for its highly virtualized environment without sacrificing performance or increasing risk. The company turned to Virtual Instruments’ Load DynamiX platform to evaluate flash and hybrid storage options and determine which systems could support demanding workloads most cost-effectively.
Virtual Instruments’ Load DynamiX enabled FireHost to simulate thousands of VMs, recreate blended I/O patterns, and test multiple arrays side by side with repeatable, apples-to-apples results. FireHost evaluated five storage arrays in less than 30 days, saving significant time and gaining the insight needed to size storage more accurately, reduce deployment risk, and improve server/VM density while maintaining service quality.
