Virtru Brings Email Security and Compliance to Pitkin County

Pitkin County, the county seat for Aspen, Colorado, serves around 18,000 citizens with more than 300 employees. Its Health and Human Services department needed an email security solution to protect sensitive information and meet HIPAA compliance requirements, but before working with Virtru it relied on native Google Workspace capabilities and even had to collect some documents by hand.

Pitkin County chose Virtru for Google Gmail because it was easy to use, integrated directly with Google Workspace, and supported HIPAA compliance. Virtru was rolled out from HHS to HR and the attorney’s offices and is now available across every Pitkin department. According to customer support manager Nate Kneifel, installation brought “zero negative feedback,” and Virtru became a “huge time saver, efficiency creator, and compliance booster” for the county.
