Bancroft Replaces Legacy Encryption Solution with Virtru

Bancroft, a New Jersey non-profit serving 2,000 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, needed a reliable way to send medical and personal information while meeting HIPAA requirements. Their prior provider, Zix, left gaps—staff couldn’t verify encryption, revoke sent messages, or provide a smooth recipient experience—so Bancroft selected Virtru to improve email security and compliance.

Virtru implemented email encryption integrated directly into G Suite with a client-side Chrome extension, adding access controls (revocation, disable forwarding, expiration), attachment watermarking, and tracking. The rollout to 2,200 users was seamless, staff adoption was rapid, and in the first few months Virtru protected more than 7,000 emails, giving Bancroft greater confidence in HIPAA compliance and control over sensitive data.
