Case Study: Standaard Boekhandel achieves scalable, future-proof omnichannel commerce with Virto Commerce

A Virto Commerce Case Study

Preview of the Standaard Boekhandel Case Study

Standaard Boekhandel Opens New Chapter on Digital Commerce by Replatforming to Virto

Standaard Boekhandel, Belgium’s largest book retailer (about 150 stores and €200M revenue), needed to strengthen its position in a fiercely competitive online book market by delivering a best-in-class omnichannel customer experience. Facing limitations in their previous ecommerce tool—especially around scale, integration with cash-registration/point-of-sale systems, and flexible product/stock management—they replatformed to Virto Commerce to gain a more flexible, sustainable commerce foundation.

Working with implementation partner Delaware, Virto Commerce delivered a best-of-breed, highly customizable platform that integrated 200 offline points of sale, two webshops and 207 fulfillment locations, and now supports a catalog of 15 million products. The new Virto Commerce solution was deployed in about a year, processes thousands of orders daily, handles continuous metadata and stock updates (millions of updates daily), and gave Standaard Boekhandel the future-proof extensibility and performance it needed.
