Adapting a National Ecommerce Marketplace

Kupinatao engaged Virto Commerce to build an international C2C marketplace—an adaptation of Taobao/Alibaba for the Russian market—and faced complex challenges around currency conversion and competitive pricing, language localization, seller and product ratings, item availability due to import rules, delivery and quality control, and centralized order processing. Virto Commerce provided its flexible ecommerce platform to meet these requirements and integrate remote catalogs and APIs into a localized, scalable marketplace.

Using the Virto Commerce platform, the team implemented Taobao API processing, custom pricing and shipping rules, centralized order management with a holding warehouse, inventory tracking, seller-rating enhancements, localized product data, promotions and warehouse tools. As a result, Kupinatao now offers 800+ million items, serves 200,000+ customers, processes integrated operations with a warehouse management system, has 500,000+ reviews and grew monthly page views from 19M to 125M (a 10x increase), becoming a leader in Russian–Chinese ecommerce.
