Storage Performance and Validation Service uses WorkloadWisdom to provide assurance that new storage deployment will meet future performance needs

CGH Medical Center, a progressive acute-care hospital in Sterling, Illinois, needed to validate a proposed storage upgrade to ensure mission‑critical systems (EMR, imaging, billing, lab) would perform reliably as demand grows. With no full-time test lab and only a 30‑day window on the vendor’s guarantee, CGH engaged Virtana, leveraging Virtana Storage Load Testing and data profiled from Virtana Hybrid Observability Platform to model real production workloads and assess proposed array configurations.

Virtana ran scaled tests (1X, 2X, 3X) and validated that the proposed storage delivered equivalent or higher throughput and IOPS with much lower latency than CGH’s existing system—average latency improved from 2.58 ms (original) to 0.91 ms at 1X. The platform produced ~14.2k IOPS and ~432 MB/s at 2X and ~21.2k IOPS and ~648 MB/s at 3X, allowing CGH to identify performance limits, mitigate deployment risk, and gain confidence that the selected arrays will support current and future workloads—results CGH now recommends from Virtana’s Storage Load Testing service.
