A Virtana Case Study
Academic Health Center, a U.S.-based graduate medical university, struggled with limited infrastructure visibility across its highly distributed, converged IT environment—relying on manual spreadsheets and log correlation that took days or weeks and left them vulnerable to outages and inconsistent performance (identical applications ran normally in one data center but experienced up to 10x delays in another). To address this, the Academic Health Center engaged Virtana, beginning with Virtana’s Infrastructure Performance Assessment (IPA) and deploying the Virtana Platform.
Virtana’s IPA and Platform delivered end-to-end instrumentation and applied analytics that identified a Converged Network Adapter (CNA) mismatch and other data-center sync discrepancies, provided real-time visibility across servers, VMs, SAN/NAS and network fabrics, and enabled proactive alerts (for example, SAN link anomalies before failures). With Virtana, the Academic Health Center reduced mean time to repair, eliminated false leads in root-cause analysis, optimized storage and network utilization, and minimized outage risk while speeding troubleshooting and change validation.
