Case Study: Plex by Rockwell Automation achieves highly responsive cloud performance and continuous optimal storage & fibre‑channel operations with Virtana

A Virtana Case Study

Preview of the Plex Case Study

Plex by Rockwell Automation uses Virtana to empower peak performance

Plex by Rockwell Automation, a cloud‑based manufacturing ERP and MES provider serving about 600 customers across 2,000 facilities globally, needed to evolve its IT infrastructure to meet growing performance, reliability, and scalability demands. Plex sought a hybrid‑cloud solution for real‑time and historical monitoring, workload and storage I/O analysis, and tight integration with VMware, Cisco, Dell, and Hitachi—so they turned to Virtana, using Virtana Storage Load Testing and Infrastructure Observability (Virtana IPM) to meet those requirements.

Virtana implemented Storage Load Testing to validate storage performance (including pre‑purchase validation of a Dell VMAX) and deployed Infrastructure Observability across all four Plex data centers to monitor fibre channel traffic, storage arrays, and VMware interactions in real time. As a result, Virtana enabled near real‑time anomaly detection and faster root‑cause identification—reducing troubleshooting that once took days to near real‑time—helping keep the Plex Cloud highly responsive with storage and fibre channel infrastructure running optimally for Plex’s global customer base.
