Global Manufacturing Company Works with Virtana and Serious Solutions to increase NFS performance

Global Manufacturing Company, a diversified $20B+ industrial manufacturer, was seeing inconsistent NFS (NetApp filer) performance that was degrading a mission‑critical application and forcing disruptive workarounds (delete and recreate files). As a long‑time user of Virtana for SAN monitoring, the Company engaged Virtana’s Professional Services to run Virtana Infrastructure Monitoring and the NAS Performance Probe to baseline and investigate the filer behavior.

Virtana instrumented both filers, produced the first empirical NAS‑to‑FC protocol correlation, and showed some hosts were driving both FC and NAS workloads; their analysis proved a dedicated second filer for the MC app would vastly increase file‑creation capacity before cleanup was required.
