Global Entertainment Organization receives data-driven business case for cloud migration

Global Entertainment Organization, a large media & entertainment company managing an AWS EDP for a major customer, needed to prove the business case for migrating its primary division’s VMware environment to AWS. Leadership and finance were skeptical because the on‑premises data center was already highly efficient, and initial AWS tools only provided industry‑average estimates, so they sought objective, application‑level evidence before committing to migration. Virtana was engaged to provide that independent analysis.

Virtana used its Workload Placement module on the Virtana Platform to rapidly and non‑disruptively collect NetFlow and agent data, run do‑nothing vs. migrate comparisons, and model costs (including EC2 vs. VMware Cloud on AWS and AWS OLA inputs). The analysis—completed in about four months—validated a migration that could reduce TCO by 30% over a 12–14 month timeframe, gave the CFO the detailed “math” to approve the plan, and enabled the Global Entertainment Organization to proceed with confidence.
