A Virbela Case Study
The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) wanted to bring the collaborative, community-driven feel of its on-campus learning experience to its international micro-MBA program, which it ran with Waseda University in Tokyo. Working with Virbela, UCSD needed a way to make remote learning feel more personal, interactive, and engaging for geographically dispersed students and faculty.
Virbela helped UCSD create a customized virtual campus that replicated the look and feel of the physical university, including lecture halls, breakout spaces, outdoor areas, and interactive presentation areas. The result was stronger student interactions, more teamwork and debate, and improved learning outcomes compared with similar remote courses. Impressed by the impact, UCSD also expanded the approach to its women’s Negotiation and Leadership Programs.
