Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA) needed a way to continue its annual meeting and trade show during social distancing, while still supporting building officials across 444 municipalities. To keep the event viable and engaging, OBOA turned to Virbela and its Expo Hall for a virtual events experience that could replicate the interaction of an in-person trade show.

Using Virbela’s Expo Hall, OBOA hosted vendor booths, social spaces, demonstrations, and breakout sessions in a scalable virtual world. The event drew more than 1,100 attendees, a 57% increase over the prior year, and delivered about $1K in average cost savings per attendee while expanding access for members who previously could not attend due to travel or cost.
