Stacklist, a New York City company founded by Amanda Moskowitz, approached Vinta Software with a growing performance problem: slow page loads caused mainly by code architecture issues (not server hardware), problematic caching that complicated the codebase, and all services running on a single machine leading to scalability limits. They engaged Vinta Software to modernize the stack (Django and React) and to add features including a recommendation engine.

Vinta Software refactored the codebase, improved code quality and standards, introduced automated tests with good coverage, and progressively optimized performance while continuing feature development. Vinta Software also migrated the infrastructure off a single host for better scalability and used Google Cloud Prediction API for the recommendation feature. As a result, Stacklist now loads faster, experiences less downtime, has lower maintenance costs, and can better adapt to traffic changes.
