Pennington Biomedical Research Center deploys Pedal Desk trials across 18 installations with Vinformatix

Vinformatix collaborated with Pennington Biomedical Research Center (PBRC) to address a complex hardware and software integration challenge. The research center needed to link a custom stationary bike, the Pedal Desk, to a computer system to gather data for a study on the health benefits of low-intensity exercise during work hours.

The solution developed by Vinformatix involved building a custom application to receive and interpret sensor data from the bike hardware. They created algorithms to convert this raw data into meaningful metrics and an innovative onscreen dashboard for user goal-setting and monitoring. This system supported multiple successful research trials. The effort resulted in several publications, including one from the National Institutes of Health that listed Vinformatix team members as co-authors.
