Global Colocation Company - Customer Case Study

Global Colocation Company, which operates a diverse portfolio of data centers from legacy facilities to modern halls, engaged Vigilent to address rising competitive pressure, increasing rack densities, and stricter SLA temperature requirements. Cooling accounted for over 30% of their annual energy costs and complex, nonlinear airflow made it hard to place higher-density cabinets and prevent hot spots, so they evaluated Vigilent’s Dynamic Cooling Management® System as a non-disruptive, scalable solution.

Vigilent deployed the system first in a 43,610 sq ft, 1 MW facility (250 wireless temperature sensors, 44 wireless control modules) and within hours its predictive control algorithm reduced facility power by 279 kW, cut PUE by 12% and lowered operating costs by $163,000/year; the 4‑month project (4 weeks on-site) also eliminated hot spots and released stranded cooling capacity using analytics, airflow maps and simple airflow fixes. Based on that success, Vigilent was rolled out to 12 more data centers, delivering $1.844 million/year in operating cost savings, unlocking an estimated 750 kW of cooling capacity and improving overall profitability.
