Politico worked with Viget to improve its coverage of the 2016 Presidential Election, a period when POLITICO.com saw massive traffic spikes during high-profile political events. The challenge was to show the right amount and type of content at the right moment while keeping election coverage distinct from non-election news as it broke.

Viget designed a modular experience built around “stadium moments,” with persistent branded elements that could be switched on for election coverage. The solution included a utility header, traveling modules, a masonry-style band, and responsive maps and tables for election results across devices, helping create a clear grouping of related content and more opportunities for advertisers during traffic spikes.
