UMC is a century-old, Pacific Northwest design-build mechanical contractor and building-optimization services firm headquartered in Mukilteo, Wash., with roughly 250 field and 180 office employees. As projects and operations grew more complex, the company struggled with fragmented third‑party systems feeding its Vista ERP, manual HR onboarding and outdated service workflows, compounded by pandemic-era staffing, supply-chain pressures and the overhead of on‑prem IT management.

UMC moved to the Trimble Viewpoint cloud and the Trimble Construction One suite, consolidating systems and adding Viewpoint HR Management (with JobTarget) and Vista Field Service. The changes halved onboarding time and recruiting costs, enabled mobile work orders for faster billing and better customer service, improved reporting and compliance, and reduced IT strain while strengthening security—creating a scalable platform for future efficiencies.
