A Viewpoint Case Study
Hunter Contracting, a heavy civil contractor based in Gilbert, Arizona, faced the challenge of widening and extending a steep, hazardous access road on North Mountain so a 200,000-pound crane could safely reach a new tower site. The project involved blind curves, 23-percent grades, limited staging space, and major safety risks, making precise coordination and visibility essential. Hunter Contracting used Viewpoint’s Spectrum construction management solution to manage the complex work.
With Viewpoint Spectrum, Hunter Contracting digitized daily logs, inspections, deliveries, and production data to improve office-to-field collaboration and real-time oversight. By comparing planned versus actual production, the team identified a drainage-channel issue that would have cost nearly $50,000 and adjusted truck staging to increase throughput from one to four trucks on the mountain at a time. The project was completed on schedule and within budget, while also improving transparency, estimating accuracy, and overall efficiency.
