ConocoPhillips, the world’s largest independent exploration and production company by production and proved reserves, led a project to design a safe, technically sound and commercially acceptable solution for volatile organic compound (VOC) abatement during tanker loading at the Teesside Oil Terminal. The challenge required coordinated decision-making and information sharing across multiple phases—from FEED procurement through EPC—while keeping the program on schedule and within commercial constraints.

ConocoPhillips deployed a FEL Stage Gate process with Viewpoint For Project Collaboration across all phases, using keywords to simplify data retrieval and enable real‑time collaboration. The system connected 408 users from 89 organizations in six countries, handling 17,210 uploads and 63,578 downloads (a 1:4 upload-to-download ratio), streamlining document access and driving measurable efficiency and cost savings throughout the project.
