Hundreds of Workers Recruited to Help Fight COVID-19 in Baltimore City

Baltimore Corps, a nonprofit that connects talent with social-sector employers in Baltimore, led the rapid launch of Baltimore Health Corps to hire contact tracers, care coordinators and support staff during the COVID-19 crisis. Facing a time-sensitive goal to equitably recruit 300–400 trusted community members while minimizing transmission risk, they needed an accessible, scalable hiring solution with multi-rater capabilities and bias mitigation. Baltimore Corps selected VidCruiter and its Pre-Recorded Video Interviews, Live Video Interviews and Structured Digital Interviews to meet these requirements.

VidCruiter’s platform let Baltimore Corps use pre-recorded video interviews to shortlist candidates, share reviewer notes and scores, and invite finalists to live interviews, while structured digital interviews standardized questions and scoring to improve equity and compliance. The solution supported flexible candidate scheduling, tracking and reminders, and allowed candidates to see questions and re-record answers. As a result, Baltimore Corps processed more than 5,700 applications in 2.5 months, saved “literally hundreds of hours,” and helped recruit hundreds of workers to support Baltimore’s COVID-19 response using VidCruiter.
