A Victaulic Case Study
Mercer University School of Medicine required a sophisticated mechanical system for its new 77,000-square-foot campus, with the challenge of meeting a strict construction timeline further complicated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Victaulic worked with the contractor and engineer to provide Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) services and grooved mechanical piping solutions to optimize the layout of confined mechanical spaces and accommodate the project's schedule.
Victaulic's solution involved creating 3D models to maximize the mechanical room footprint and supplying grooved products that enabled extensive pre-fabrication. This approach resulted in a 70% reduction in field joints and allowed the contractor to mitigate risk and stay ahead of schedule. The successful partnership ensured the new medical school campus was delivered on time, welcoming its inaugural class in 2021.
