Edward R. Roybal Comprehensive Health Center completes rooftop retrofit on schedule with Victaulic

The Edward R. Roybal Comprehensive Health Center required an upgrade to its rooftop chiller and boiler system with minimal disruption to its daily operations. South Coast Facility Services, the contractor on the project, partnered with Victaulic and its Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) services to meet this challenge.

Victaulic's solution involved creating a detailed 3D BIM model from a laser scan to optimize the design and prefabricate piping. This process ensured a clash-free installation and allowed all materials to be delivered for a rapid installation during two scheduled shutdown days. By using Victaulic's grooved piping solutions, the contractor reduced joint counts and kept the project on schedule. The new, energy-efficient system was successfully commissioned on time in 2021.
